A two-phase refurbishment at 38 The Salcombe

Apartment 38 at The Salcombe was a two-phase refurbishment project for new owners. For any work carried out at The Salcombe there are restrictions that need to be taken into consideration.  For example, when work can be carried out, making sure the impact on other residents is minimal (a lot of planning goes into removing waste the right way), owners can’t do anything that changes the view from the exterior, and internally owners can’t do anything that will structurally impact the building.

What we did

Phase One was about getting the apartment ready for summer lettings.  It had to be completed by the end of June in line with the codes of conduct.  This phase was about completing minimal but effective work including painting, cleaning the carpets, arranging and installing new furniture and curtains, and adding new doors internally.  The property is let for the six weeks of the summer and September.

Phase two was a more comprehensive refurbishment of the apartment, which included replacing the bathrooms and the kitchens as well as adding new external patio doors within three months.

The kitchen in particular was a special project, using a local cabinet maker for the bespoke fittings.  Having seen an example of the kitchen they wanted, owners of the apartment brought an image to Pebbles, who found the right local supplier to recreate it.
