We were accredited 5 STAR by Visit Britain in 2009 and we continue to pride ourselves on providing superior housekeeping for our clients.  Perhaps that's why we now service more than 350 homes in the areas of Salcombe and Portlemouth.  Whether the clean is for you or your visitors, please be assured that your home will be found shining throughout.

Your Housekeeper knowing your home...
If you’ve visited Salcombe before you may have noticed the Pebbles Housekeeping teams with their characteristic navy uniforms, wicker cleaning baskets and Henry vacuum cleaners! 
As a Pebbles Holiday Home or Second Home client, your home will be allocated two Housekeepers to become familiar with your property and your personal preferences:  your main Housekeeper will lead your Housekeeping team at each visit (consisting of 1-2 Cleaner/s) and your second Housekeeper will be called on if the first Housekeeper is unwell or taking leave.

Training...
In light of our 5 Star accreditation in 2009 we reviewed our quality strategy to ensure we maintained the 5 Star standard consistently.  In 2010 we introduced a 5 Star internal training programme focused on error prevention, supported by external NVQ training in association with the Learning Skills Council and South Devon College.  It takes 18months training for a Cleaner to become a Pebbles Housekeeper under the new programme.  When you come in to the office, why not ask to see the policy booklets.

Quality appraising...

In April 2010 we introduced three initiatives to focus on appraising work and developing staff.  Spot checks are carried out on your Housekeeper weekly, a short survey is left in your home at every clean and a new online survey is available for immediate feedback.

Acting on quality appraisal...

The results of the quality monitoring inform your Housekeepers bi-annual formal appraisal, her/his monthly performance bonus and Christmas bonus.  Your housekeepers skills are developed through bi-annual action plans.  Our personnel management is provided by Peninsula Business Services

Active communicating...

We know that communicating is key to supporting our staff as well as our clients.  Unlike our competitors, we employ all our staff and meet with them both in the morning for their briefing and at the end of the day for their de-brief.  Our Housekeepers attend a monthly Housekeeper Team meeting where they can raise concernsd, discuss ideas and receive training.  Out of season, our Housekeepers are included in the continuous improvement programme
team so that the company can identify the real issues and act where action is necessary.

Our value judgements through experience

Some cleaners charge a flat-rate to clean your house but we don't think that's fair when you may only have had one couple stay for a weekend!  At Pebbles, we believe you should get what you pay for - no less, which is why we've developed our unique Target Cleaning Time and separate Bed Change system.

Target Cleaning Time:  When we quote to clean your home we present a Target Cleaning Time to which we will schedule e.g. 4.5hrs.  However if your home has been visited for a weekend and accommodated only a couple e.g. 3hrs, you will be charged accordingly.  In this way, we're able to tailor the work around your needs.

Bed Change:  When we quote to clean your home we present a charge for each bed change (inc. stripping, transporting and making up) at £3.50/bed +vat.  If your home has three beds but has only accommodated a couple in one bed, you will be charged accordingly.

Example:  A Home with a Target Time of 2.5hrs and 6 bed changes on a normal changeover

    Full house                  £35.00 for full clean     +   £21.00 for Beds       = £56.00
    One couple / w/end     £21.00 fo 1.5hr clean   +   £3.50 for Beds         = £24.50
                                                                                        A saving of more than half!


PLUS All standard cleaning materials are included in the price of your clean (exc. toilet rolls)
n.b. The work of our Housekeeping Teams focuses on just the clean and unless requested to do so as part of caretaking, Housekeepers and Cleaners do not care for plants, check Visitors Books, etc.  We ask that clients supply their property with the substantial tools, such as vacuum cleaners or a mop & bucket; we're happy to purchase these items on their behalf on request.
